Our next concert takes place at the Church of St Michael and All Angels in Bramhall on Saturday 18th May, starting at 7.30 pm.
We will be performing the works of 2 French composers, Charles Gounod and Maurice Durufle (Ryan – Durufle has a French acute accent on top of the final letter e in his name).
Gounod’s Messe Solennelle de Sainte Cecile was composed in 1855, Durufle’s Requiem was commissioned in 1947. Both works will be accompanied by Graham Eccles on the Church Organ. Our soloists are Sally Johnson (soprano), Richard Pollock (tenor) and Louis Hurst (bass baritone).
This concert is notable for being the last Barnby Choir concert to be conducted by Peter Stallworthy, who is leaving the choir after 14 years’ distinguished service.
Tickets cost £10 (adults), £8 (concessions) and £2 (students), and will be available on the door. They may also be booked in advance by phoning 01625 526065 and speaking to Doug.
