Spring Concert
Our Spring concert was accompanied by the talented Musica Nova led by Jem Bradley. The two charming soloists, both singing with The Barnby Choir for the first time, were soprano, Hannah O’Brien and baritone, Charles Murray. We hope to be able to work with them again.
The programme began with Mozart’s Kyrie in E♭ followed by Mendelssohn’s Hear my Prayer which were beautifully accompanied by Hannah who later commented how much she’d enjoyed singing with us and listening to us.
After the interval, Brahms’ German Requiem was sensitively accompanied by Hannah and Charles. The choir approached this tremendous work with aplomb and vigour where appropriate and with feeling and emotion in the quieter passages. The audience commented on the ‘dramatic rendition’ and said that the Brahms was ‘profoundly moving’ and sung with ‘clarity and passion’.
It was all agreed that it was a stirring event and the choir received many messages of congratulation from the large audience.
