Stephen Reynolds

Stephen graduated from the former Royal Manchester College of Music, where he studied with Colin Horsley and Ryszard Bakst of Warsaw, gaining ARMCM distinction in both solo performance and teaching, plus GRSM with special merit in performance. He gained Rothschild and Martin Trust scholarships plus other awards. He was a finalist in the 1971 BBC piano competition, and silver medal winner at the Gian Baptista International piano competition in Vercelli, Italy, in 1972.

Following this, he gave many highly acclaimed piano recitals, at the Vienna Conservatoire, in the Hague, Holland, and at London’s Wigmore Hall and Purcell Room. He also made occasional broadcasts on the BBC. He has performed with several British orchestras and conductors, including En Shou and Barry Wordsworth.

As accompanist he has had a long association with Clonter Opera and the Royal Northern College of Music, where he acts as accompanist and tutor. He has composed works for piano, organ, and choral, orchestral and chamber music. He is accompanist for the Barnby Choir and several other choral societies, and also works as a freelance organist.
