Singing day 2016
We were delighted to welcome over 60 singers to our 2016 Singing Day, on Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, on Saturday 6 February. The day was led once again by Keith Orrell, Director of the William Byrd Singers and the Liverpool Welsh Choral Union, who enthused us all with his trademark expertise, energy, enthusiasm and encouragement and taught us a lot about the Baroque style of music-making. Keith was ably supported by our very talented accompanist, George Herbert, from Chethams’s School of Music, and a number of accomplished singers who volunteered for solos.
In the breaks between singing we enjoyed the opportunity to sample a wonderful array of home-made cakes from the cake-stall and browse among the books on the book-stall. Altogether it was a thoroughly enjoyable day and we would like to thank Keith and George in particular, but also all those who came along to sing and the many people who contributed behind the scenes to the day’s success.
