Singing Day success
We are delighted to report that our Singing Day on Saturday 7 February 2015 attracted 66 singers made up equally from Choir members and visitors. Our Singing Days provide an opportunity to sing music which is not normally included in our concert repertoire, and this year everyone enjoyed a very stimulating day under the expert direction of Keith Orrell, learning some of the 40 or so motets composed by Anton Bruckner.
Keith, who is Musical Director of both the William Byrd Singers of Manchester and the Liverpool Welsh Choral, and also Vocal Projects Leader for Wigan Borough, both challenged and encouraged us with his inimitable blend of energy and wit. He is always a welcome guest and we were delighted to work with him again.
We were also very fortunate to have with us as accompanist George Herbert, an extremely talented student at Chetham’s Music School in Manchester.
Thank you to all those who came along to take part and made the day such a success. We look forward to seeing you again next year!
