Spring concert success

Our Spring Concert on 30 March, featuring Carl Orff’s exciting Carmina Burana and Bob Chilcott’s delightful Little Jazz Mass, drew a huge audience to Alderley Edge Festival Hall – a new venue for us and a highly successful one. Conducted by Lloyd Buck, the concert featured not only the Barnby Choir, three soloists, two pianists, a bassist and multiple percussion players, but also the Ryleys School Chamber Choir, conducted by Jennifer Limond, who joined us in Carmina Burana, and sang a delightful medley of their own to end the first half.

We received much enthusiastic feedback:

“Absolutely fantastic, very tight and superbly conducted”

“Carmina Burana was exhilarating! Huge sound, exciting stuff, magnificent choir…”

“The children were well disciplined and especially good joining in the Carmina Burana”

“A terrific concert and all credit to the choir – what a sing! Star of the evening was Lloyd. He has such passion and enthusiasm.”

“We thoroughly enjoyed the concert – one of Barnby’s best, I think. The choir’s diction and enthusiasm were impressive.”

Two weeks later, on 13 April, members of the Barnby Choir joined forces with the Ellesmere Port Music Society Choir (Music Director Lloyd Buck!) in a repeat performance of Carmina Burana with the Wirral Philharmonic Orchestra at Ellesmere Port Civic Hall, also to great acclaim. We hope to build on this successful collaboration.
